​Black Leadership Advancing the Community (B.L.A.C.) Awards

​Myrtle Craig Mowbary Award

​Robert Green Award

​This award recognizes a first year student(s) who has presented exceptional leadership and remained active in contributions to the Black community.

​Doctor Lee June Award

​This award commemorates a graduating senior(s) who has sustained the legacy of Black student leadership through a commitment to the intersections of scholarship, civic engagement, and social justice. 

Marcus Garvey Award

​This award commemorates a student who has made an active commitment through their MSU career(s) to the uplift of Black students through personal integrity, mentorship, and community involvement.

​Ervin Armstrong Award

​This award recognizes an outstanding Black student that has demonstrated a commitment to unity, scholarship, and uplift of the MSU Black community.

​Black Entrepreneur Award

​This award recognizes an outstanding Black entrepreneur that has persevered throughout the pandemic and deserves recognition for their business. 

Blanche Martin Award

​This award is given to a student who exemplifies leadership through campus and community involvement. This student is an emerging leader who has exhibited integrity, collaboration, and intellectual, emotional, and social growth. • Sophomore or Junior

​Legacy Award

​True leaders serve, and true servants lead. The Legacy award seeks to award a student(s) who has devoted their time and effort in servant leadership through Black Student Alliance. The recipient(s) of this award will have made a significant effort to contribute to the Black community by uniquely addressing problems or improving situations. The recipient(s) will demonstrate a vision of a world left better because of the work the student(s) has done.

Leadership Certificates

​These certificates will be given out to students who did not win an award but has shown excellent leadership and perseverance throughout the pandemic. 
​This award recognizes a student with active participation in community service and a commitment to civic engagement and social justice for the Black community at MSU and beyond. 

Faculty of The Year Award

​This award is given to a faculty or staff member in recognition of their significant contributions to the lives of Black students at MSU. The recipient of this award has made contributions in the areas of scholarship, professional services, student life, mentoring, and development.

​Ally of the Year Award

​This award acknowledges a student(s) outside of the Black community who has made a significant positive impact through initiatives, interactions, or contributions to the Black community.

Clifton R Wharton Award

​This award honors a student organization that has impacted the MSU Black community through promoting scholarship and challenging students to be socially conscious.

​Darius Peyton Award

This award recognizes a student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship, and has made a significant contribution and commitment to the uplift of the MSU Black community.
• Junior or Senior
​• 3.3 GPA preferred

​Unsung Hero Award

​This award is given to a member of the Black community who goes above and beyond to help others and is not always recognized for t their behind the scenes work.

Robert Biddle Award

​This award is given to an Advisor who has provided excellent guidance, support, and development for their organization throughout the year.

​Program of the Year

​This award will be given to either individual or group that created, developed, and implemented an outstanding social program that has positively fostered community, spirit, and pride.
