Many of you may be aware or are familiar with incidents that students have experienced in terms of racial discrimination on Michigan State’s campus. The black community believes that it is imperative that we take this time to not only come together to further discuss these issues, but to also create an effective resolution that can be proposed to strengthen our demands for change.
We plan on combating this issue by hosting a Town Hall Meeting, it is our hopes to raise awareness to situations such as this where minorities are being attacked with racial slurs, while informing the media and Residence Life that we will no longer stand for the injustices places upon us. It is their responsibility to ensure our safety as students and humans. Although the Residence Halls Association has their own protocol on how to handle bias incidents, we feel as if it is our duty while they complete their investigations to inform the community on how to handle bias situations.
